This still young year has enough Sundays available to give each gospel of the “Revelation of the Lord” its own Sunday. On 2 January, we heard the Lord’s Revelation to the world in the story of the three Wise Men from the East. On 9 January, Jesus was revealed by the Father and the Holy Spirit to the Jewish people at the Baptism in the Jordan. And on this weekend at the wedding of Cana, Jesus made his first sign, revealing himself as the long-awaited Messiah. The abundance of wine is the Messianic abundance that we share in celebrating the Eucharist to this day. We too are invited to the wedding supper, together with Jesus and Mary, and with the disciples who, seeing this sign, believed in Jesus.
