Baptism of the Lord

We often complain to each other about our world: there is no security anymore, people have no sympathy for each other, the world is hard and the strongest wins, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer … We can go on for a while.
When we complain like that, we always think that “the others” are making things bad in the world. But, sometimes when we honestly look at our own lives, we discover that we too are to blame for what is not going well in our world. We too are sometimes hard, no forgiveness possible, we too can be careless with our car, we also hurt fellow human beings, … We also have a part in the guilt, in the sinfulness of our world.
Imagine somebody coming and taking away all that guilt. The world would be different. We commemorate the baptism of Jesus. We remember Jesus standing in the line of sinners to do righteousness to God.
