Marriage, the covenant of love and fidelity between a man and a woman, is a sacrament in the Catholic Church. The wedding takes place in the church, in the presence of a priest or deacon, and in the presence of witnesses who have been invited by the marriages. A wedding celebration is a church celebration, which – when both bride and groom are Catholics, – can be embedded in the celebration of the Eucharist (Holy Mass).
