The Jesuits in the Middle East and JRS “Middle East, North Africa, Syria” are now calling especially for emergency aid in Syria where they are working (and affected). They let us know the following:
Following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria on the night of Feb. 6, the situation remains dramatic. JRS staff in Syria report significant damage in Aleppo, with hospitals collapsed or uninhabitable, lack of electricity and disconnections or very difficult connections. People are shocked and scared, and many preferred to stay outside in the cold and rain, fearing the aftershocks. A donation goes directly to Syria! Will you help spread this appeal? Many thanks!
The Jesuits have opened their building in Aziziyé, declared safe, where displaced people can find shelter and support. We remain in solidarity with the people of Syria who have long suffered from the war and its socioeconomic consequences, with millions displaced. As multiple traumas discourage people, we pray that the Syrian people may soon find healing and peace.
Help our Syrian brothers and sisters endure this new tragedy. Your generosity will help our staff continue to support thousands of Syrians who have lost their homes and loved ones. Thank you!
Donations for this can be transferred to: St. Claverbond Nijmengen. IBAN NL85INGB0000828228 BIC: INGBNL2A, please mention: ‘JRS-Syria, earthquake’.
