15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The parable of the Good Samaritan is one of the most beautiful and imaginative stories in the Bible. Until you have to put it into practice! Because what if I don’t have the time? Do I dare? Should we apply this story of Jesus to the many migrants who have been in distress during a dangerous crossing? And what about people who, at least partly through their own fault, got into trouble? Jesus does not give a direct answer to all questions, but he does show how our basic attitude as followers of Him could and should be: standing still, looking with compassion, not asking too many questions, and above all: making the need of the other person his or her most important characteristic.
